| MR. GRATON PASSES AWAY John A. "Andy" Graton, 62, Price Hill, died Sept. 27 at the Hospice of Cincinnati, Mercy Hospital-Western Hills. Mr. Graton is survived by siblings Charmaine Vires, Roger "Rocky" Graton, nieces and nephew Patti Webb, Hollie Graton Bauer, Robb Graton, Kelly Russell; lifelong friends Steve Magocsi, Dale DeBrosse. Preceded in death by parents Vivian, Roger Graton. Services were Oct. 1 at St. William. Arrangements by Meyer Funeral Home. Memorials to: League for Animal Welfare, P.O. | MEADOWDALE CLASS OF 1980 GRADUATE, MARK BROOKEY PASSES AWAY Mark Brookey a member of Meadowdale's Class of 1980 passed away peacefully in his home with family members at his side this past Wednesday evening, May 21 after battling Liver Cancer over the past year. Mark's father, Mr. Ron Brookey was a popular a councilor at Meadowdale during the 70's. Mark is survived by his family including parents: Ronald & Rose Mary (Omlor) Brookey of Dayton, sisters and brothers-in-law: Kay & Bill Lawler of Oakwood, Julie & Tom Snyder of Clayton, Lisa & Chris Glass of Englewood. His sisters all graduated from Meadowdale. | JACK MEERHOFF FROM THE CLASS OF '77 PASSES AWAY We are sad to report that Meadowdale Class of 1977 graduate Jack Meerhoff passed away this past Thursday September 4 in Columbus, Ohio. Jack's sister Teri, also a Class of '77 graduate, was killed in 1993 from injuries sustained in a domestic dispute. | MEADOWDALE CLASS OF '77 LOSES CLASSMATE DON (KLU) BEARDSLEY Former member of the Meadowdale Lions baseball team and Meadowdale Class of 1977 graduate Don Beardsley, nicknamed "Klu" by his teammates, passed away last Thursday. According to his good friend Mark Roberts who was present at Don's memorial service, Don was diagnosed with inoperable liver and pancreatic cancer and passed away just 6 weeks later. "Thankfully I got the opportunity to talk a lot to Don before he passed away...We all called him Klu because he reminded us (his baseball teammates) of Ted Kluszewski" said Roberts. His friend Sandy Goodwin added, "I am glad Don came to the (Class of '77) reunion. I hate to think that is the last time I will ever see him. Just one more reason why we need to keep in touch." Below is Don's obituary from the Dayton Daily News, which was brought to our attention and sent to us by his Baseball Coach, Steve Goad. BEARDSLEY, Donald R. Age 49, of Brookville, formerly of Dayton, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, December 4, 2008 at his home following a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his mother, Carol Beardsley. He was a restaurant manager with both Frischs & Cassanos. Don was a 1977 graduate of Meadowdale High School where he was a member of the baseball team. He was also an avid hunter. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Susan; father, Jerry Beardsley; brother Jerry Beardsley, Jr., both of Trotwood; sister, Kathy & husband Mike Berry, Englewood; brother, Ted & wife Deloris Beardsley, Union; mother-in-law & father-in-law, Carolyn & Dale Cogan, Englewood; sister-in-law, Barbara Cogan, Cincinnati & numerous nieces & nephews. Funeral services will be held 1 PM Monday, Dec. 8 at the GILBERT-FELLERS FUNERAL HOME, 950 ALBERT RD., BROOKVILLE, with Pastor Don Jackson officiating. Interment in Arlington Cemetery, Brookville. | MEADOWDALE'S POPULAR MUSIC TEACHER MR. HEISEY PASSES AWAY AT 83 Mr. John Heisey, beloved music teacher at Meadowdale High School passed away on Easter Sunday, April 4, 2010 at Friendship Village. He was 83. Mr. Heisey was born on March 29, 1927 in Dayton and will go down in Meadowdale history for being the one who penned our school's alma mater & fight song. Mr. Heisey was also a frequent performer in Trotwood Circle Theater productions, director of various church choirs in Dayton, a dedicated member of the Valley of Dayton Scottish Rite and was Director of the Dayton Rotary Boys Choir. Mr. Heisey will be sorely missed. |

| FORMER MEADOWDALE CHEMISTRY TEACHER PASSES AWAY We are sad to report the passing of another former Meadowdale teacher, Mr. Richard Youngerman. Mr Youngerman passed away on March 20, 2010. He was 78 years old. Mr. Youngerman, who taught chemistry at Meadowdale was survived by his son, Richard A. Youngerman and his daughter, Frieda Youngerman. Richard and Frieda both attended and graduated from Meadowdale High School. Our condolences to all the Youngerman family. |
